Listening decoding 01 Introduction

This is the first of four videos containing a re-purposing of the contents of my IATEFL 2020 conference workshop. The conference was cancelled, so I have created these videos because I will not be attending future conferences, as I am retiring at the end of June 2020. The videos represent a thought experiment - with demo activities - about the possibility of having a systematic approach to listening-decoding. My thinking is that we can teach the messiness of everyday speech in a tidy way in the same tidy way that we teach grammar and vocabulary.
