Malaysia in a Tornado trap! Crazy wind destroys roofs and trees in Ipoh!
On Sunday, January 30, a strong tornado hit the Malaysian city of Ipoh in the state of Perak.
As a result of the incident, dozens of houses were damaged, trees and power poles were knocked down.
“I have lived here for about 50 years and have never seen anything like this before. The roof in my house was badly damaged and the ceiling collapsed,“ said one of the eyewitnesses.
A local merchant said he was grateful that 10 shoppers and several workers at his store managed to escape when the roof collapsed during a storm.
A local resident said she saw a tornado that lasted about 20 minutes and witnessed roofs being blown off.
“I could only pray for mercy on our family and I am grateful that our house is not too badly damaged,“ she added.
The Perak Fire and Rescue Department said they received a report of the incident on Sunday evening and immediately began to provide assistance.
