Two Side Effects of Meditation | Monastic Experience

I have spent many years practicing meditation, initially learning from my Chinese Martial Arts teacher, Sam Chin. Additionally, I have attended numerous Vipassana retreats in various monasteries across Thailand. After becoming a Buddhist nun, I spent two and a half years in Taiwan, studying with Chan Buddhist masters. While still a nun, I moved to the United States and resided at the MABA Monastery in Missouri, where I studied mindfulness under the guidance of Venerable Master Ji Ru. In this video, I will discuss two amazing side effects of meditation that I personally love incorporating into my daily life. I will also outline the meditation approach I use and provide a brief explanation of the different levels of meditation. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to reach out. Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to my wonderful husband, who is always there for me and generously shares his beautiful musical creations. Be sure to listen to his music at the end of the video! 0:00 Intro 0:03 Purposes and benefits of meditation 0:19 Definition 1:08 Stages of meditation 2:18 Rupa Jhana 2:21 First jhana 2:50 Second jhana 3:05 Third jhana 3:16 Fourth jhana 3:23 Out of body meditation 3:51 How to develop further from beginner’s stage 5:13 Side effect number one 7:52 Side effect number two 10:28 Music by my husband
