Purple Bulleid Dazzles The Valley - 70 ’Queen Elizabeth II’ - 14th May 2022

A couple of clips from a trip up to the Severn Valley Railway to see the Bulleid Pacific that’s been the talk of the town, recently, as 34027 ’Taw Valley’ made her first revenue earning runs in her controversial new livery. Now numbered as ’70’ and soon to be renamed ’Queen Elizabeth II’, the Bulleid Pacific has been, temporarily, repainted by the Severn Valley Railway into an eye-catching purple livery, with silver lining, as a way of celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee. It’s a decision which has caused quite a stir in the railway community, both good and bad, but there’s no denying it’s one which has resulted in a lot of extra publicity and revenue for the SVR. Taw Valley is certainly no stranger to unconventional liveries, herself, having had a stint in ’Hogwarts Railways’ maroon during the early 2000s to promote the Harry Potter franchise.
