Who are the African athletes to watch at the Paris Olympics? | DW News
Hundreds of African athletes are chasing gold in France. South Africa, Egypt and Nigeria have the largest delegations. But will that translate into victory?
Kenya was the most successful African country at the last Games in Tokyo, with four gold medals, and wants to stay on top of the list. We hear from some athletes, starting with Ferdinand Omanyala, a Kenyan sprinter who trained in France for the Olympics.
One squad to watch at the Paris Olympics is South Sudan’s basketball team. It’s the first time the team has qualified, and they are the only basketballers from an African nation at the games. The team is hoping this will be the start of a basketball revolution back home.
