R. Strauss, Metamorphoses - 1st double bass’ part in focus (performed by Božo Paradžik)

The video was shot during the live performance in Freiburg (D) on 26th November 2023, I wanted to highlight with this video the part of the first double bass. “Metamorphoses“ for 23 strings was Richard Strauss’ last big composition. Composer has written this piece first as a score for the septett (2v, 2vla, 2vcl, 1cb). A simpler septett score was used to make it easier to compose, but it was intended from the beginning as a work for 23 strings. However, also the septett version works really well as a chamber music piece.
