Australia’s largest warfighting exercise - Talisman Sabre

Exercise Talisman Sabre 2021 will see a maximum of 2000 foreign military personnel taking part in major events at the Shoalwater Bay Training Area and Townsville, North Queensland from 14-31 July. Australia’s largest military exercise with the United States will include amphibious landings, field and logistics training, urban operations, air combat and maritime operations. Traditionally held with more than 10,000 US personnel taking part, the scale of this year’s exercise has been significantly reduced to minimise risks from COVID-19. The ADF, United States and visiting partner nations are committed to delivering a COVID-19 safe exercise. All foreign military personnel are required to return a negative COVID-19 test before travelling to Australia and then spend a mandatory 14-days in quarantine upon arrival.
