Binyamin Netanyahu has brushed away concerns about regional war in the Middle East as he warned the “long arm of Israel” could strike Iran following the bombardment of Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Addressing the UN general assembly, the Israeli prime minister defended his country’s right to wage war in Gaza and rebuffed western pressure for a truce with Hezbollah, declaring instead that “we are winning”.
“I have a message for the tyrants of Tehran: If you strike us, we will strike you. There is no place in Iran that the long arm of Israel cannot reach. And that is true of the entire Middle East,” he said.
Netanyahu denied that Israel was seeking to resettle Gaza and reaffirmed his desire for a normalisation of relations with Saudi Arabia as he said 60,000 Israelis in the north of the country were unable to return home for almost a year because of Hezbollah rocket attacks.
