’La Mascotte’ - Michael Aspinall & Karen Christenfeld - Comic Duet

In this comic duet from Edmond Audron’s operetta “La Mascotte,“ the farm girl Bettina tells the shepherd Pippo that she loves him more than she loves her turkeys, while Pippo responds by saying that he loves her more than his sheep. Bettina is sung by Michael Aspinall (the ’Surprising Soprano’) and Pippo by Karen Christenfeld, with David Triestram at the piano. The introduction is spoken by Andrew Lord Miller, who plays Scarpia to Michael Aspinall’s Tosca in another upload here, and who sadly died recently at the age of 76. This comes from a recital given in the New York Town Hall in 1987 and is one of several numbers from the same programme that can also be seen here on You Tube.
