The Active Volcano in Idaho; Wapi Lava Field

When most people think of volcanoes within the United States, they tend to not think of the U.S. state of Idaho. Yet, Idaho contains 4 active or potentially active volcanoes, and each of these produce volcanic eruptions somewhat similar to shield volcanoes in Hawaii or effusive fissure eruptions in Iceland. This video will discuss the Wapi Lava Field volcano, which per the U.S. Geological Survey produced a large eruption 2,222 years ago. This eruption covered more than 100 square miles in a layer of molten rock. Thumbnail Photo Credit: (Central Photo: Image from (L.
