GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Senators () | Matheson’s Three-Point Night
Former Penguins goaltender and two-time Stanley Cup champion Matt Murray returned with the visiting Ottawa Senators. While Murray wasn’t in the game, he was honored by the fans and waved appreciatively from the media level. Dominik Simon got the Penguins on the board first in only the first 5 minutes of the game with a shot that he tucked nicely under the crossbar. Shortly after Batherson earned Ottawa’s first tally of the contest, Evgeni Malkin put the Penguins back in the lead with a goal in his first game back on home ice since last season. Mike Matheson then added a goal of his own, increasing the Pittsburgh lead with a goal to finish off the 1st period.
