Released in the Australian winter of 1962, this number, from the German composer and big band arranger, Bert Kaempfert (1923-1980), was one of his orchestra’s first recordings featuring the ‘knackbass’ (crackling bass) sound of guitarist/bassist Ladislav ‘Ladi’ Geisler. This track peaked at the #20 national position (as an Australia wide top 40 was not compiled at the time, this ranking was published some years later following an analysis of available chart runs and retail sales in 1962).
