How to master Roman Kim’s strange harmonics technique!

I spent months learning this technique when I first ran across it in order to play Kim’s compositions. Now that I’ve at least come close to mastering this strange, seemingly physics-defying technique myself, I figured I would make a short video explaining the secrets of this technique which I’ve uncovered essentially by trial and error. Since this technique is virtually unknown even in the academic and professional world, if you want to learn it you basically have to figure it out yourself based on whatever limited resources might be available. It’s extremely finicky and very difficult to nail down, but hopefully this is helpful in some way if you are trying to learn this fascinating technique yourself. Roman does explain the technique somewhat in the preface to the sheet music for his Three Romances, in which he most famously utilizes this technique. He doesn’t go into all that much detail, but that’s pretty much all I had to get myself started on this! You can buy the scor
