A little info about “Petite Mort“ -- It is set to the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and was produced for the Netherlands Dans Theater. It was first performed at the Saizburg Festival on the second centenary of Mozart’s death in 1991. I am always amazed at the video production quality of the Jiří Kylián NDT ballet recordings (by NPS; Arthaus Musik). When I first encountered Jiří Kylián’s work (which was “Petite Mort”), I had assumed from the video quality alone that it must have been recorded within the past five years (at most), but NOPE! Many of the recordings, which are just as crystal-clear and high quality, date back twenty or thirty years. Unbelievable!
