Australia History (1901-2022). Every Year.

COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA The First Fleet of British ships had arrived at Sydney Harbour in 1788, founding the first of what would evolve into six self-governed British colonies: New South Wales, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia, Victoria and Queensland. On 1 January 1901, federation of the colonies was achieved after a decade of planning, constitutional conventions and referendums, resulting in the establishment of the Commonwealth of Australia as a nation and the entering into force of the Australian Constitution. _________________________________ PRIME MINISTERS OF AUSTRALIA Edmund Barton (1901–1903) Alfred Deakin (1903–1904; 1905–1908; 1909–1910) John Christian Watson (1904) George Houston Reid (1904–1905) Andrew Fisher (1908–1909; 1910–1913; 1914–1915) Joseph Cook (1913–1914) William Morris Hughes (1915–1916; 1916–1923) Stanley Melbourne Bruce (1923–1929) James Henry Scullin (1929–1932) Joseph Aloysius Lyons (1932–1939) Earle Page (1939) Robert Gordon Menzies (1939–1940; 1940–1941; 1949–1966) Arthur William Fadden (1941) John Curtin (1941–1945) Francis Michael Forde (1945) Joseph Benedict Chifley (1945–1949) Harold Holt (1966–1967) John McEwen (1967–1968) John Grey Gorton (1968–1971) William McMahon (1971–1972) Gough Whitlam (1972–1975) Malcolm Fraser (1975–1983) Robert Hawke (1983–1991) Paul Keating (1991–1996) John Howard (1996–2007) Kevin Rudd (2007–2010; 2013) Julia Gillard (2010–2013) Tony Abbott (2013–2015) Malcolm Turnbull (2015–2018) Scott Morrison (since 2018) _________________________________ MONARCHS OF AUSTRALIA Queen Victoria (1901) King Edward VII (1901–1910) King George V (1910–1936) King Edward VIII (1936) King George VI (1936–1952) Queen Elizabeth II (since 1952) _________________________________ ANTHEM OF AUSTRALIA Australians all let us rejoice, For we are one and free; We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil; Our home is girt by sea; Our land abounds in nature’s gifts Of beauty rich and rare; In history’s page, let every stage Advance Australia Fair.
