A Peep At “Dear Love“ (1929)

Extracts from the new musical comedy at the Palace Theatre in London called “Dear Love.“ Claude Hulbert dances in front of a group of chorus girls. He does a comedy dance involving falls and various funny business. “Weddings always fascinate Eve, even stage weddings, especially when such handsome stars as Annie Croft and Tom Burke are the Bride and Groom. (“And such a perfectly adorable gown, my dear!“)“ reads an intertitle. A wedding scene is acted out. It is presumably the wedding reception. “A fragrant Ballet fragment“ is shown - a group of chorus girls in long ballet outfits do a high kick routine . Shots include a low angle view of the girls’ legs as they do their spins. “Another fragment - by Sidney Howard and Vera Pearce - (In an Apache Dance all their own.) Sidney and Vera are a rather tubby couple and they do a comedy version of the rough and tumble dance so popular in the 1920s. She wears a split skirt that shows off her stocking tops. He wears a kind of Tyrollean peasant outfit
