Charles Austin (1931)

(Main Pathetone titles.) Full titles read: “To enable our Patrons to positively understand this Pathetone Weekly we have persuaded the famous comedian Charles Austin to introduce the items to you in his own inimitable style.“ (may be incorrect - timecode obscures end of title.) London. Over a blank piece of film we hear comedian / actor Charles Austin saying “Oi! Oi! Can’t we have some light?“ Cut to Charles looking out from behind a curtain, exclaiming as he supposedly sees the cinema audience before him. He comes out from the curtain, wearing a bowler hat and oversized jacket. He sneezes and explains that he has been asked by Pathetone to talk us through this issue. He gives a convoluted introduction to the next item in the issue, ’The Rhythm Girls’ - see separate record for details. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
