Live from Ceuta amid ongoing migrant crisis

Ruptly is live from Ceuta on Thursday, May 20, amid the ongoing migrant crisis at the Spanish enclave bordered by Morocco. A record number of migrants have been attempting to make the crossing since Monday. The crossings began after reports that Moroccan border patrols have been loosened as part of a diplomatic protest against Spain’s admittance of Polisario militant group leader Brahim Ghali for COVID-19 medical treatment. Morocco’s foreign ministry accused Spain of admitting Ghali under a false Algerian diplomatic passport without informing Moroccan officials, warning of repercussions for ties between the countries.
