Among all contemporary jazz guitar players, Pat Metheny is surely one of those who have a strong and immediately recognizable phrasing ! His fluidity is really unique, and the result of a lot of elements interacting together such as slurs, chromatic slides, fifths skips, chromatic lines, etc... The following exercices proposed in this booklet are not transcriptions of Metheny’s solos, but practicing ideas widely inspired by his playing. You can just take it in the beginning as technical exercices that will help you to get more melodic development and more fluidity in your playing, then if you feel confortable with, it can make part of your phrasing and get you more confident and comfortable.
