The Pilot - Character Painting

Here’s the third and final summary video based around character painting. With this video, I wanted to show a different process. In the previous videos (The Reaper and The Orc - links below!), there was a heavy basis on working in greyscale to workout the overall design first, and then build it up gradually. In this video, a lot of the early design was created using photography and textures (also known as photobashing) and then a lot of over painting was done on top. I was trying to play around with some different techniques in this image, and I also didn’t have a very clear design direction which did cause some issues (you can see that the background changes quite drastically throughout the production!). But, the whole point is to show different ways how to build up a design, so I guess it was a success there. Below, I’ve provided links to other Character Painting videos I’ve done, as well as links to the sources of the photographs I used. As always, I hope this helps you out!
