South Korea says US anti-missile system “not negotiable“ with China

South Korea has said the US missile defence shield stationed in the country will never be up for negotiation as it is a matter of national security and means for self-defence against the threat posed by North Korea. China and South Korea have been clashing on interpretation of statements. China had urged South Korea to abide by the “three nos“ principle made by the Moon Jae-in administration: 1) no additional US defence deployments in South Korea, 2) no participation in a Washington-led missile defence network, and 3) no involvement in a trilateral military alliance with the US and Japan.
