It comes with 22-inch wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, remote ignition, heated and power-folding mirrors, side assist steps, rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic three-zone climate control, synthetic-leather upholstery, ambient interior lighting, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a power-folding third-row seat, a digital instrument panel, a infotainment touchscreen, a 19-speaker AKG audio system, a surround-view camera with a recorder, a navigation system with augmented reality directions, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, and several driver-assist features listed below in the Safety section. With many interior and technology additions, the Premium Luxury trim has amenities that are vital to buyers in this category. It gets our recommendation for that reason. Sport Differentiated mainly by its dark front grille and exterior trim bits, the Sport ($98,190) includes everything from the Premium Luxury trim plus some features from the top trims, such as Magnetic Ride Control, adaptive air suspension, and advanced trailering technology. Premium Luxury Platinum The Premium Luxury Platinum ($112,690) upgrades to soft-close doors, massaging front seats, additional leather and faux suede interior surfaces, a premium 36-speaker AKG audio system with headphones for rear passengers, and a rear-seat entertainment system with dual displays. Sport Platinum The Sport Platinum ($112,690) has the same dark exterior accents as the standard Sport, with a distinctive grille and black exhaust tips. Engine and Performance The 2024 Cadillac Escalade comes with a V8 engine as standard equipment. Its 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque are certainly hearty but won’t warrant bragging rights over the Mercedes-Benz GLS 580’s optional turbo V8 or even the Lincoln Navigator’s standard turbo V6. The standard Escalade is unique, however, in offering a six-cylinder turbodiesel as an option. It develops only 277 hp, but its torque output matches the V8’s. (Cadillac also offers a 682-hp Escalade V, which is reviewed separately.) Our Escalade tester was equipped with the diesel engine. And although it has plenty of oomph when pulling away from a stop, it lacks the effortless acceleration of the V8 at higher speeds. The bigger compromise with the diesel, however, is its gravelly engine note. It’s muted, but it’s there. The upside is that it has much better fuel economy than the gas engine.
