The Armada Revolt (1893) - Republican Government of Floriano Vieira Peixoto Marshall Floriano Peixoto betrayed the Empire. By means of a constitutional provision, thirteen officers sent a Manifesto to President Floriano Peixoto demanding new elections. Floriano ordered the immediate arrest of these leaders. It was clear that the Navy, Armada, had little prestige when compared to the army. This triggered the beginning of the Revolt. Led by Custodio de Melo, former Minister of the Navy, several armored units entered into conflict with the army on September 13, 1893, in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro. Without any chance of victory, the armed units turned to the south of the country where they tried unsuccessfully to win the support of the Southerners. In March 1894, the president curbed the movement with the help of North-American freebooters and their fleet of ships from New York, overcoming the Brazilian armed rebels. Ironically, when victory against the insurgents was confirmed, the anthem heard was the English one “Long live the Queen“. The title track of the band has the lyrics written in the 1st person representing the Armada with the participation of famous Brazilian voice talent Silvio Navas (1942-†2016), who narrates in the 1st person the President Floriano Peixoto’s speech. ---- Revolta da Armada (1893) - Governo Republicano de Floriano Vieira Peixoto O Marechal Floriano Peixoto traiu o Império. Por meio de um dispositivo constitucional, treze oficiais enviaram uma Carta-Manifesto ao então presidente da República Floriano Peixoto. Essa carta exigia convocação de novas eleições. Floriano ordenou a prisão imediata destes líderes. Era nítido o pequeno prestígio da Armada (Marinha) em relação ao exército. Assim teve início a Revolta. Liderados por Custódio de Melo, antigo ministro da Marinha, a artilharia entrou em conflito com o exército no dia 13 de setembro de 1893 em Niterói, Rio de janeiro. Sem chance de vitória, a Armada se dirigiu ao sul do país onde tentou inutilmente o apoio dos sulistas. Em março de 1894, o presidente  conteve o movimento através da ajuda de flibusteiros americanos e da sua frota de navios vindos de Nova York. Ironicamente, quando a vitória foi confirmada, foi ouvido o hino inglês “Long Live the Queen“. A faixa-título da banda tem a letra representando a Armada e conta com a participação do famoso dublador brasileiro Silvio Navas (1942-†2016), que narra, em 1ªpessoa, as intenções de Floriano Peixoto.
