Enjoy! ————————————— Lucky Peterson - A Legend In His Own Time Judge Kenneth “Lucky” Peterson is a major force in the world of modern blues. Lucky’s searing guitar, keyboard virtuosity, outstanding vocals and captivating charisma combined with his extraordinary career and life odyssey are the stuff of legends. Lucky started performing at a very early age. He was steeped in the blues from the day he was born in 1964, quickly realized his calling and proceeded to fulfill his destiny; a child prodigy preordained for greatness. His father, James Peterson, was a well known bluesman and owner of a Buffalo, NY club, The Governor’s Inn House of Blues, where Lucky was influenced and mentored by seminal blues legends, considered as family, such as Freddie King, Muddy Waters, Lowell Fulson, Howlin’ Wolf, Big Joe Turner, Koko Taylor and Willie Dixon. Willie Dixon knew talent when he saw it and was amazed when he first saw 5 year old Lucky performing at The Governor’s Inn, instantly recognizing that Lucky was a very special soul and extraordinarily gifted. So Dixon decided to take Lucky “under his wing.” In 1969, Lucky released his first record titled, “Our Future: 5 Year Old Lucky Peterson.” In no time, millions of viewers saw Lucky perform on the Ed Sullivan Show, What’s My Line?, the Tonight Show and the pioneer African American performance/variety television program, SOUL!. He is reckoned to be the first, if not the only, blues musician to have appeared on national television in short pants! Lucky attended the Buffalo Academy of Performing Arts during his teen years, where he studied formal music theory and played French Horn in the school orchestra. But after graduating he followed his heart, making a bee-line back to the blues and was soon playing backup guitar and keyboards for Etta James, Bobby “Blue“ Bland, and Little Milton. During his career, spanning 5 decades, Lucky has released some 40 records of his own (one of which, “Double Dealin’”, received a Grammy Award nomination) and has appeared and/or collaborated on over 100 albums with artists including B.B. King, Albert Collins, Mavis Staples, Mahalia Jackson, James Peterson, Kim Wilson, Shemekia Copeland, Kenny Neal, Junior Wells, James Cotton, Carey Bell, Joe Louis Walker, Carl Weathersby, Tamara Peterson, Big Daddy Kinsey, Bernard Allison, Larry McCray and many others.
