The French President Emmanuel Macron expressed hope that war could be avoided over Ukraine as he met the Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Moscow. World leaders are stepping up efforts to reduce tensions over Ukraine with fears of a Russian invasion. Around 100,000 Russian troops have been moved close to the country’s border. President Putin is demanding that Ukraine does not join the NATO military alliance which he says is a threat to Russian security.
