Polish MP thrown out of parliament after dousing Jewish Hanukkah menorah

Polish MP Grzegorz Braun has caused outrage after using a fire extinguisher to put out a Hanukkah menorah in the parliament on Tuesday. Video footage showed Braun taking the extinguisher, creating a cloud, and prompting security to clear the area as he targeted the candles. The Polish lawmaker from the Konfederacja party labelled Judaism as a “satanic cult“ when challenged by others at the scene. “Those who take part in acts of Satanic worship should be ashamed,“ he said. Braun later took to the podium, defended his actions as “spontaneous,“ invited lawmakers to a theological debate, and claimed he was restoring “normality“. Szymon Hołownia, speaker of the Sejm Polish parliamentary chamber, excluded Braun from the session and planned to inform prosecutors about his actions.
