Game Recap: Penguins vs. Flyers () | Jeff Carter’s Pittsburgh Debut
After being a long-time nemesis of the Penguins when he played for the Flyers, and after he won the Stanley Cup—twice—with the Kings, Jeff Carter was traded to the Penguins ahead of the NHL’s trade deadline. He would make his Penguins debut against his former team. After an opening period with surprisingly low shots on goal for both teams, the Penguins managed to grab the lead in the 2nd with a goal from Sidney Crosby. Kris Letang did a great job creating the chance off the rush, and Penguins’ Associate Head Equipment Manager, Jon Taglianetti, made a tremendous play to get Crosby a new stick (the captain gave his to a stick-less Brian Dumoulin) while Sid was in full-stride to the Philadelphia net. The Flyers would even the game, 1-1, early in the 3rd period with a tally from Voracek. Things would remain even throughout the remainder of the 3rd period and overtime, forcing a shootout. Jake Guentzel was the lone Penguins player to score.
