Game Recap: Penguins vs. Devils () | Kasperi Kapanen Returns to the Lineup
The Penguins had a pleasant surprise for tonight’s game: Kasperi Kapanen returned to the lineup. Sidney Crosby got the crowd on their feet just 41 seconds into the game, putting the Penguins up 1-0. New Jersey answered midway through the 1st period, but Cody Ceci’s shot found twine to give the Penguins a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission. Bryan Rust got on the board with his 19th of the year in the 2nd period, and the returning Kasperi Kapanen notched one 25 seconds after Rust. Teddy Blueger scored a short-handed marker, his third of the season, and the Penguins went into the final period with a 5-1 lead. After a difficult 3rd period last game, the Penguins made no mistake about it this time around: the Devils didn’t earn a goal in the final frame. Tristan Jarry stopped 30 of 31 shots on goal.
