Baling Hay by Hand May 2012

After cutting the grass in the orchard by scythe, we tried out our human-powered hay baler. The results are well-compacted bales slightly smaller than the standard and so easier to handle and ideal for smallholder and horse owners. This hay is entirely fossil fuel free. Visit for my scythe blog.
