Investigation reveals that an Israeli organisation used the dead for fundraising campaigns

A Haaretz investigation into an Israeli organisation, Zaka, found cases of negligence and the spreading of misinformation. Some volunteers from the ultra-Orthodox organisation, who were involved in the recovery of bodies after the October 7th attacks, shot fundraising videos alongside the deceased and arranged private tours inside the kibbutz for donors. The investigation found that Zaka propagated accounts of atrocities that never occurred, released graphic photos, and acted unprofessionally on the ground. It was also discovered that many human remains recovered by Zaka volunteers were mishandled, parts were left behind, mislabeled, or incorrectly grouped without proper identification.
