The band themselves have even rejected the notion of being associated with the genre so how did they come to be mis-genred. Korn’s debut record, which most consider to be the commercial catapult for Nu-metal, hit the shelves exactly one year before Deftones released their debut album, Adrenaline, well, give or take a few days. So in some regards it’s easy to see why Deftones joined the ranks of Korn, Limp Bizkit and even Slipknot when being designated a Nu-Metal band.
