Teddy Brown (1934)

No titles. Commentator introduces Teddy Brown as “the biggest musician in the world“. Pathe Studio, London. Teddy Brown, a very large gentleman, plays a jaunty tune on his xylophone accompanied by a pianist. When he finishes first number he announces he will play “anything you like“. A woman’s voice calls out ’One Hour With You’. He produces a pair of binoculars and, after looking off screen with them, shakes his head and says “Not tonight!“. He announces he will play some Hungarian music. He plays what sounds like a sad Hungarian folk song. After a while the tempo changes and the tune becomes an upbeat number. Teddy does some great stuff, and funny business, playing the xylophone without looking at it and so on. He finishes with a flourish, turning round along the length of the xylophone as he plays. Unable to confirm which item this originally comes from - probably Pathe Sound Pictorial 844. Item also exists in ’Pathetone Parade of 1940’ (check for best quality). FILM ID: A VI
