Nik Bartsch’s Ronin

Ronin is the zen-funk jazz quintet founded in 2001 by Swiss composer and pianist Nik Bartsch, together with Kaspar Rast (drums), Björn Meyer (bass), Andi Pupato (percussion) and Sha (bass/contrabass clarinet). Despite the multiplicity of the band’s influences, Ronin’s music always possesses a strong individuality, incorporating elements of disparate musical worlds, including funk, new classical music and sounds from Japanese ritual music.
