It’s Karate! Karate Kata is not a Dance (video posted for educational purposes) Kata is not a dance. I think that it is something practical. Of course it is important to win a competition, but I want to hone myself and, while protecting long established traditions, keep evolving the technique, that will then aid me to win those tournaments. As a Karateka, I want to pursue the essence and core of it. If I really hit an opponent, would I be able to defeat them? If an opponent really hit and kicked me, could I withstand? I will become even better! I will become even stronger! The more I do, the more difficult it gets. This depth is what makes Karate so enjoyable!
