Beginner Knife Making: How to make your first knife

Hello everyone and welcome back to the forge, In this week’s video I show how to make a basic knife using a file. To do this project you do not need a forge, just some simple tools and you will be well on your way to making your first knife. Everything in this video can easily be done with a cheap harbor freight 1x30 grinder or even an angle grinder with flap disks. Steps I used in making this knife: selection, I used a Nicholson file or print a template you want your knife to look like the template to mark your design onto the steel, I do this with a cheap can of black spray paint. your steel and grind in into the shape of your knife. 5. Temper your steel at 425-450F for two hours, this should give you the desired hardness you need. your edge with spray paint or color it with a sharpie and scribe a cent
