The sight of all this has led to the proceedings’ becoming widely known as one of the world’s strangest festivals, and on the day the temple grounds are filled with visitors from Japan and overseas. Shinto shrines are found all over Japan and is a symbol of the people’s linkage to their community. Shrines serves as houses for divine spirits as well as places preserving memories and practices of Japanese culture. Based on the discovery in 1935 of an ancient sword and ar
