My Cousin - Enrico Caruso - 1918 silent film - piano by Glenn Amer 2011

This silent film was made in 1918. It features the great tenor, Enrico Caruso in a dual role - that of famous opera singer (Cesare Caroli) and his Cousin, an impoverished sculptor. The piano accompaniment was recorded in July 2011 by Glenn Amer, (singer/pianist and Caruso fan!) The accompaniment was recorded in one take - completely improvised and arranged by Glenn using operatic tunes and popular songs (mostly taken from Caruso’s repertoire). All the links and other bits are also improvised. After watching through the film, I noted down all the tunes that I have used (not including improvised links): la giubba (Pagliacci) ’ cieli bigi (La Boheme) la giubba (Pagliacci) qui commence (Samson et Dalilah) Donna e mobile (Rigoletto) ’ cieli bigi (La Boheme) gia nell’anima (La Boheme) a Napoli (Cottrau) 9.A Vucchella (Tosti) casta e bel (Il Duca d’Alba) 11.M’appari (Martha)
