Munich Machine: A Whiter Shade Of Pale [Full Album + Bonus] (1978)

Munich Machine’s second album introduced singer Chris Bennett as a lead vocalist on 4 tracks, including the title track which was of course a cover version of Procul Harum’s 60s classic. Following Donna Summer’s landslide success with I Feel Love the previous year with its groundbreaking electronic sound, the soundscape here is also dominated by Giorgio Moroder’s synthesizers but combined with strings and horns. La Nuit Blanche is based on Richard Strauss’s Also Sprach Zarathustra. My personal favourite here is the infectious Love Fever which has such a tight groove that is simply just irresistible. The album was released in May 1978 and was, not unexpectedly, bigger in the clubs (#22 US Disco Charts) than on the sales charts (#190 Billboard). The single peaked at #42 in the UK charts, one place lower than Funk Train had done.
