Genocide By Famine: Israel and US Starve Gaza While the World Watches

On The Freedom Side LIVE, Thursday, 3/21 at 3pm ET/12pm PT, Eugene and Rania are joined by special guests: Dr. Mustafa Barghouti - As the official death toll in Gaza passes 31,000 people, Israel continues to starve, bombard, and ethnically cleanse Palestine with the full backing of the US government. In addition to the daily bombings and refusal to allow aid into the besieged territory that is facing imminent famine, Israeli attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank have intensified. Dr. Mustafa Barghouti, a physician and general secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative, joins the show from Ramallah to discuss the ongoing struggle for the total liberation of Palestine amid the US-backed genocide. Vijay Prashad - A new publication from the Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research and Global South Insight, ‘Hyper-Imperialism: A Dangerous Decadent New Stage’, provides a compelling analysis of today’s global situation, arguing that imperialism has begun its transformation to a new stage: hyper-imperialism. Vijay Prashad, the Executive Director of the Tricontinental Institute, joins the show to discuss the study and how US imperialism is the biggest threat facing humanity today. Yousef Mawry - Last week, Sayyed Abdulmalik al-Houthi, the leader of Yemen’s Ansar Allah, announced that the country’s armed forces would be expanding their attacks on Israel-bound ships from the Red Sea region to all of the Indian Ocean. Ansar Allah and the Yemeni Armed Forces have been carrying out attacks against the ships associated with Israel since November last year, in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. Yousef Mawry, a journalist and a political analyst based in Yemen, discusses Yemen’s steadfast solidarity with Palestine, despite the ongoing retaliatory attacks carried out by the US and UK. Dr. Ben Becker - President Biden proposed his 2025 $7.3 trillion election-year budget on Monday, and it’s almost a mirror image of his 2024 budget that went nowhere in Congress. The budget includes tax increases on corporations and the rich and new spending on social programs– but is it all campaign fluff? BreakThrough’s Editor-in-Chief, Ben Becker, breaks it all down. Eugene Puryear and Rania Khalek - Months after forcing its former colonizer France to withdraw its troops, Niger has declared the US military deployment in its territory “illegal.” The US military has three strategically crucial military bases, including one of the world’s largest drone bases, in Niger, West Africa’s largest country. Eugene Puryear and Rania Khalek discuss how the significant move from Niger could deal a major blow to the US military’s power-projection capacity in the region. #BreakThroughNews
