French Onion Smash Burger

Believe me when I say you need to try this. It has everything you want and more! If you like French onion soup and burgers than you will love this combination. You don’t even have to cut up a steak or make you own buns. Go buy ground beef and a nice Burger bun (brioche or pretzel) and I know it will still smack. Buns: 1 cup 2 tbsp water 2 packets active dry yeast 1/4 cup sugar 1 egg 1 tsp salt 3 1/2 cups AP flour 1/3 cup oil Soup/sauce: 2 tbsp butter 1 medium shallot 2 cups stock Onions: 1 onion per burger 2 tbsp butter 1 tsp salt 1 tbsp sugar 2 four ounce burgers (homemade or store bought)
