’’Treceți batalioane române Carpații’’ (Cross the Carpathian Romanian battalions), is a Romanian patriotic song/march from WWI. It is thought to have been composed in 1916, shortly before Romania’s entry into WWI, but it became official in 1918.
Great Union Day (1st December) is the national holiday of Romania, marking the unification of Transylvania, Bessarabia, and Bukovina with the Kingdom of Romania in 1918.
Even if the 3 regions didn’t unite with the Kingdom on the same day, the Great Union is celebrated in a single day. The events took place in the same year (1918), the first being Bessarabia on 27th March, then Bukovina on 28th November and Transylvania on 1st December.
