What’s On Jenny’s Bench: Digital Super 8 cartridge, part 2

Continuing my Super 8 digital cartridge series, here I illustrate the focus problem with some real footage, and show you another prototype I made using an ESP32 instead of a Raspberry Pi Zero. The footage is pretty simple, a still life of a Tux plushie and a bottle of Club-Mate. It’s out of focus unless the camera zooms in, and then it’s only possible to focus about a metre away. This is very obviously a result of the sensor being too far back, and it demonstrates that the project still needs work. The second half of the video is devoted to my other prototype, using an ESP32. It’s much cheaper and more available than the Pi, but the Pi is much easier to use while getting the camera part right. At the end I talk about something else I’m involved in. Trans Rescue is a small non-profit that gets trans people out of dangerous places. Please click on the following link for more details, and give us your support.
