Baby bat drops her pacifier and panics: this is Miss Rosebud

Baby bats are used to having their mum’s nipple in their mouths all the time, and if they’re holding on with their mouths they can’t fall. So if they lose their pacifiers they get upset and feel insecure. The babies are wrapped in little blankets with something to grab onto (we call the rolls “mummas“) because their mothers would wrap them in her wings while they’re clutching onto her body. Miss Rosebud is in care with a vaccinated and authorised wildlife carer specialising in bats. Rosebud grew up and was released a few months later, fit for life in the wild. Do not handle bats unless you’re vaccinated and trained. Some bats may carry deadly viruses. Even baby bats can bite and scratch
