How to Create Cool Light Effects - Fire, Lightning, Iris, Nebula etc...

Hey there. Here’s a video on how to create some cool effects in Photoshop using Screen and Color Dodge layers. I think the same thing can be done in Painter too. It’s important to have a background that is middle to dark in tone so that the glowy stuff can really pop off the page. To get smooth brush strokes, it also helps to have a large canvas and use a large brush. My canvas was the Photoshop preset size of US Paper. Hope it helps!
