Beethoven - Coriolan Overture - Adam Rapa and CORNO Brass Ensemble

Ludwig Von Beethoven. What a BEAST! Some of my favorite moments within his compositions strike me as the Hard Rock of its time. In our treatment, all of the intended beauty is still present, and being performed amazingly by an A-list cast of orchestral badasses (plus myself, trying to fit in). My GOD, the low brass section… But there’s also the added dimension of awesomeness from drummer John Riddell, who I gave carte blanche to do whatever he wanted on top. John’s enormous vocabulary, his sensitivity and his tremendous power made him a perfect choice to infuse all that groove and excitement - on levels both subtle & hardcore - and breathe new life into these old classics. Also Christian Betancourt’s Latin percussion occasionally whisks us away to an island paradise that feels so good; so natural, while being so far from the original flavor of the piece.
