Self-Defense is Offense - Train and prepare to fight “FOR“ much more so than “against“.
What and who you fight for is more important than what you fight with or when. The first (WHY) you can always know if you you do the work right now and do so daily. The other two aren’t always in your control.
Serve fully what is most true, good and beautiful in your life each day, recognize its value to you and then train and prepare to protect those things as best you can.
Proper self-defense training is preparation and that preparation is best served by becoming willing and capable to bring greater violence on that which which would bring you or those things harm. You are not more righteous or civil by believing you can somehow willingly lose initiative, fight fair, or count on the assailant to yield or have mercy because of your kindness. Attack the attack. until it is stopped.
Self-defense is the offense your prepare for in advance. Most of it is about awareness, the criminal mindset and targeting patterns and the rest will assure you are fit in the best sense possible.
Learn to box and to wrestle and especially to fight in and out of the clinch (attached and unattached to clothing). Become familiar with and proficient in firearms and the knife and all they entail. It doesn’t take a lifetime. 2-3 years with an experienced instructor. The rest is art and sport and will only refine what most matters and has the highest % to work.
