French Farmers Block Major Highways Around Paris

The blockage caused severe traffic jams on roads linking Paris to Lille, Belgium - amid nationwide protests by the farming industry. Unions have called for the roadblocks in and around Paris to increase pressure on PM Gabriel Attal’s govt, which the farmers accuse of not doing enough over low food prices and excessive bureaucracy. Attal’s office said he would make a speech addressing the farmers’ concerns at around 1500 GMT in a mountain village near the Spanish border, some 500 miles from Paris.
