Nana Mouskouri (Greek: Νάνα Μούσχουρη)) (Chania, 13 oktober 1934) is a Greek singer. In 1961 Nana Mouskouri scores her first major international hit ’Weisse Rosen Aus Athen’ - which was released in multiple languages -. The song is based on an old Greek folk tune and is used in a German TV documentary about Greece. ’Weisse Rosen Aus Athen’ sold more than 1 million singles. It opened the doors for Nana to more international success. In 1962, Nana met the famous producer Quincy Jones in New York with whom she recorded her English-language album ’The Girl From Greece Sings’. The record is a great success. The same applies to the successor My Coloring Book. In 1963, Nana participated in the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of Luxembourg. With the song ’A Force De Prier’ she finishes in eighth place in London. The song becomes a hit and brings her into contact with Michel Legrand, who writes some beautiful compositions for her, including the hits ’Les Parapluies De Cherbourg’ Nana performed this song ’Lieder, die die Liebe Schreibt’ in the Dutch TV show ’ Showbizzquiz’ on TROS TV on 29 December 1980.
