Ciaccona in E flat major by Silvius Leopold Weiss, performed by Nigel North

Music from the Thursday evening concert by Nigel North at the 2010 Lute Society of America Summer Seminar and Lute Festival at Case Western Reserve University. The “Ciacconna“ is from a manuscript source that is not dated, but since it employs only eleven courses, it is likely that it was composed before 1720. The eleven-course lute Nigel North plays is based on a design by Hans Frei. It was built by Lars Jonsonn in 2005. Posted with permission of the performer. More information at: LuteSocietyofAm
