The Vernon Spring performed this version of “Mother’s Love” for the film series curated by Lima Limo Records called ’Live at The Arboretum’, directed by Emile Ebrahim Kelly. Here we hear him stretch out from his original re-imagining of the Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou original, weaving in more improvisation and ornamentation to create a moving alternative take. Hereby, this release continues his ‘culture of versioning’, whereby The Vernon Spring will be releasing multiple versions of the same composition, highlighting how a piece of music evolves and mutates with each improvised iteration.
